Honouring a Legacy
We recently had the privilege of restoring a very special piece for one of our customers, a Royal Canadian Air Force hat badge that once belonged to his father, Harold Wynne. Harold enlisted in the RCAF in Edmonton in 1942 and served throughout Canada during the Second World War, including time stationed in Gander, Newfoundland.
Over the course of three years, Harold worked as part of the ground crews responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of military aircraft, an essential role that kept missions moving and crews safe. At the end of the war in 1945, Harold was honourably discharged, holding the rank of Leading Aircraftman. To preserve this meaningful piece, we carefully restored the badge and soldered a pin to the back so it can be worn and cherished once again. It was an honour to help bring new life to an item that carries so much history and family pride.

At Vandenbergs, we understand that restoration is about more than repairing. It is about preserving history, craftsmanship, and the stories carried by each piece. Whether it is an antique heirloom, an estate piece, or a meaningful item passed down through generations, our restoration work is approached with care, respect, and attention to period specific details. If you have a piece that deserves thoughtful restoration, book an appointment with us to discuss how we can help bring it back to life.
